This summer, for the first time ever, attendees of the Regina Farmers’ Market can view and purchase the fruits of the labours of a variety of Saskatchewan publishers, with books in genres including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, cookbooks, and children’s books.

In partnership with the Saskatchewan Writers Guild (SWG), SaskBooks will be attending Regina Farmers’ Markets on most Wednesdays throughout the summer. Attendees of the Market will be able to learn more about the programs and services the Writers Guild offers, as well as purchase Writers Guild memberships, merchandise, and publications. SaskBooks will be providing a different selection of Saskatchewan-published books for sale each week, and staff will be on hand to chat about the publishing industry in the province and the services SaskBooks offers its members.

Wednesday afternoons in the summer will also feature the Saskatchewan Writers Guild Words in the Park Reading series. Between noon and 1:00 P.M., some great Saskatchewan writers will be reading from their works at the north-east corner of Victoria Park, just feet away from the SWG and SaskBooks booth at the Farmers’ Market. People can enjoy attending the Farmers’ Market, have lunch at a food truck, listen to some great readings, and go home with a bounty of local produce, baked goods, craft beer, and now Saskatchewan-published books.

During the summer, The Regina Farmers’ Market takes place every Wednesday and Saturday 9:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Scarth Street and 12th Avenue. The Saskatchewan Writers Guild is a provincial cultural organization that supports writers in all disciplines and at all levels of development. SaskBooks is the provincial cultural organization for book publishers, and represents 50 members.  SaskBooks and the SWG will be attending Wednesday Farmers’ Markets throughout July and August.
